About Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

Established in 1881, Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) is a private, independent college. Its 1,400 students are based across campuses in Albany, New York and Colchester, Vermont.

ACPHS offers BSc degrees in biomedical technology; clinical laboratory sciences; microbiology; pharmaceutical sciences and public health. MSc courses include clinical laboratory sciences; cytotechnology and molecular cytology; health outcomes and informatics; molecular biosciences and
pharmaceutical sciences. There are also four dual BSc/MSc courses, each lasting five years. ACPHS’ Doctor of Pharmacy programme remains the school’s core program and utilises their two on-site pharmacies – with ACPHS being one of only three institutions in the country to have their own.

Students work with faculty on research in areas such as cancer, infectious disease, and obesity. Among the careers that graduates have taken up are biochemist, clinical laboratory scientist, consumer safety officer, drug information specialist, environmental toxicologist, health policy analyst, hospital administrator, pharmacist, physician, physician assistant and research scientist. The median salary of graduates is $122,600, the second-highest figure recorded on the US Department of Education’s College Scorecard.

Student life is active across both campuses with sports teams competing at various intercollegiate competitions and other activities on offer ranging from scientific societies, religious societies and dance teams. ACPHS publish a detailed student guide that gives information on various services including a writing centre, disability services, counselling, international student services and a Student Government Association.
