Warwick: best campus

June 17, 2005

First-year law student Kayode Sodeinde (pictured right) thinks Warwick University's place as students' favourite campus is well deserved.

Warwick pipped Oxford, Loughborough, Birmingham and Nottingham to be the campus with the buildings and facilities that "most impressed" students in Opinionpanel's survey.

Mr Sodeinde, from East London, said the layout of Warwick's campus, its social life and facilities were impressive - right down to each student bedroom having an internet connection.

The university sits in 750 acres between the urban centre of Coventry and the villages of rural Warwickshire.

The 1960s buildings were beginning to look dated within a decade. But the construction of conference facilities has helped to bankroll regeneration of buildings. Warwick spent £350 million on campus buildings last year.

Mr Sodeinde said: "I was definitely impressed with the size of it and the links between every hall of residence and the central campus itself.

"The central campus is the hub and it seems like there are veins and arteries running off it to the different buildings. Everyone comes together in the centre of the campus - to chill out in the piazza in the afternoon or to come in at night for all the different events."
