Michael Murphy, educationist for his contribution to the university and academic affairs in Northern Ireland. Lucille Mair, Jamaican ambassador to United Nations and chair of United Nations University Council. Jos Lapsley, for services to the University of Ulster.

D.Litt: Eric Newby, travel writer.

D.Sc: Maldwin Drummond, chairman of Heritage Coast Forum and New Forest Committee.

Honorary professor: Albert Roux, founder and owner of Le Gavroche restaurant.
