These interactive tutorials are used in conjunction with the online tutorials found at www.whfreeman.com/iga9e to guide students through live searches and analyses on the National Center for Biotechnology Information database. This edition includes three new tutorials on the COGs (Clusters of Orthologous Groups of proteins) database, functional analysis and environmental genomics.

Who is it for? Undergraduates who want just another guide on how to use databases.

Presentation - A cheaply printed booklet accompanied by web-based tutorials. The latter are well structured, but haunted by problems such as changed database structure or non-functional links.

Would you recommend it? Not really. If you produce something at an introductory level, it should be foolproof.
