Boasting one of the world's oldest and largest work-placement programmes, the university was founded by philanthropist Anthony J. Drexel in 1891. It has some 22,500 students and an academic staff of about 2,500 in 13 faculties and schools on its 74-acre main campus and four satellites, including one in Sacramento.
