Warwick's coat of arms sports two lithium isotope atoms, a DNA helix and Warwickshire's bear with a ragged staff opposite Coventry's elephant and castle. This 46-year-old institution comprises 29 academic departments plus 40 research centres and institutes grouped into four faculties - arts, medicine, science and social studies. It has around 21,600 students and about 5,000 staff.
