University of California, Santa Barbara

Located on the Pacific coast 100 miles north of Los Angeles, Santa Barbara is the third-oldest of the University of California's 10 general campuses, joining in 1944. Offering courses in the arts, humanities, sciences and engineering, it has around 23,000 students and boasts more than 1,000 scholars, including five Nobel laureates.
