A concert venue for many years, SB was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2006. On its North Shore location, around 1,900 faculty teach approximately 24,700 students in a dozen colleges and schools, including the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences. Founded in 1957, it co-manages the nuclear physics-centred Brookhaven National Laboratory.
