Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main

Founded in 1914 as Frankfurt University by a group of wealthy citizens, it was given its current name in 1932 in honour of the city's most famous son. It offers 170 degree programmes ranging from African language studies to zoology. It has 16 departments distributed over four campuses, 37,000 students and 600 academics.
