To find the best shortcut between any two points on its campus, UCL's Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis has designed a handheld Routefinder. Alumni of Britain's first university to admit women on equal terms include Jonathan Ross, Jonathan Dimbleby, Robert Browning, Jomo Kenyatta and cricketer David Gower. Today, around 21,600 students are served by about 8,000 staff.
