INSTITUTION OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS On October 1, the following will take office for the 1996/97 session.

President: Robert Hawley, chief executive, British Energy.

Divisional Chairmen: Computing and Control Division - John Gray, professor in the department of electrical engineering, University of Salford; Electronics and Communications Division - Ray Hills, professor, Ray Hills Associates; Management and Design Division - Steve Robinson; Manufacturing Division - Graham Mackenzie, director-general of the Engineering Employers Federation; Power Division - Steve Williamson, professor in the department of engineering, University of Cambridge; Science, Education and Technology Division - Kenneth Grattan, professor in the department of electrical engineering, City University.

UNIVERSITY OF ABERDEEN Gillean Maclean, assistant chaplain to the university since 1994, has been appointed the first female chaplain to the university; Peter Sloane, professor of economics and head of the department of economics at the university, has been appointed vice principal and dean of the faculty of social sciences and law; Graeme Roberts, head of the department of English at the university has been appointed dean of the faculty of arts and divinity.
