University of Sheffield - Soak up sun in South Yorkshire

Nick Clegg has opened a "solar farm" on the roof of a university building. The facility at the University of Sheffield is made up of state-of-the-art photovoltaic panels and is part of a £120,000 investment in renewable energy technology and research at the institution. Mr Clegg, who is Liberal Democrat MP for Sheffield Hallam and deputy prime minister, said: "As we face the huge challenges of climate change and energy security, it is vital the UK moves away from its reliance on fossil fuels and on to low-carbon technologies. I am proud that the University of Sheffield is at the cutting edge of renewable research."
