The University of Bath has been awarded more than £12 million by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council to create two new doctoral training centres. About £5 million will go to the university's department of computer science to train people for the special effects and animation industries. Working with the University of Bournemouth, a new centre will teach research-level skills and management expertise in special effects, animation and post-production. A second grant of more than £7 million has been given to the department of chemistry for a doctoral centre for sustainable chemical technologies.
