University of Bath - Grant awarded for cancer study

A team of researchers have been awarded more than £450,000 by Cancer Research UK to investigate a new way of preventing the division and growth of tumour cells. The team at the University of Bath, led by Mike Threadgill of the department of pharmacy and pharmacology, will be targeting a family of enzymes that appear to be involved in controlling cell growth. By finding a way of preventing these enzymes from working, it may be possible to halt the progression of cancer.
