Is it fish? Is it sausage?

For 23 years it brightened the lives of academic librarians. Now The THES / Annals of Improbable Research outstandingly-obscure-journals project can share the joke.

The now-defunct Journal of Fish Sausage , chronicling advances in this often overlooked area of food science, has been nominated three-times over by British librarians.

Paul Hockney used it to demonstrate "the richness and diversity of the world of published information" at Queen Mary's school of medicine and dentistry. Richard Wakeford, a librarian at the British Library, lamented its death. "The heyday of piscine small goods seems to have passed."
