Primary Science Teaching Trust

Award winner: Susan Rodrigues
Institution: Liverpool Hope University
Value: £90,000

Digital access to science learning resources

This project aims to make science research more accessible to student teachers by developing web apps and vodcasts (video podcasts). In the latter, pupils and undergraduate students will interview scientists and science educators about their work, with the aim of developing awareness and understanding of contemporary science and science education research within classroom practice. “The Primary Science Teaching Trust has lots of materials available to teachers, but it’s hard to find stuff if you don’t know what you don’t know,” said Susan Rodrigues. “We’ll be working to develop an app to let people search by preference rather than by specific keywords. For example, a teacher could search for ‘outdoor activity’ and it would come up with relevant material.”
