We don't need the QAA and loads of police telling us academics what to do. Nor do we need loads of bureaucrats and overpaid managers sucking cash out of the Universities. Higher eduction is one of the most successful businesses in this country that's why foreign students pay to come here !!! So the politicians should be rewarding the academics that produce the outputs much better rates of pay.

Um, yes, but you don't have to look very far around the Higher comment pages to find plenty of folk who believe that "more means worse". Please name a single profession in the last 20 years that has got away with saying 'we know what we're doing, leave us alone and please pay us more'...
