* Sheffield University: setting of spring semester exam papers disrupted. Either AUT members are not submitting questions to co-ordinators or co-ordinators are not assembling papers for the exam board. Appraisals on hold

* Open University: exam and assessment boycott has hit the media studies new second-level and MA courses - AUT members are not undertaking any exam and assessment-related activity

* Northampton University: a union representative reports that there have been no exam boards so far. Modules are failing to progress and work not being marked. There is a backlog of exam scripts and oral presentation results have not been given to students

* One Northern lecturer reports: "I am an external examiner for a PhD at another university. The date for viva is May 12 but it will not take place if the dispute is not resolved."
