Course hits rocky road

Coventry University has become the latest institution to fail an inspection of a foundation degree. The Quality Assurance Agency said that it had "no confidence" in the academic standards or in the quality of "learning opportunities" provided for students on Coventry's motorsport engineering course.

London South Bank university vice-chancellor Diane Hopkin warned last month after his institution failed an inspection that vice-chancellors were concerned about the number of foundation degree failures due to be reported by the QAA.
