A Paisley University dean has vowed to clear his name after being sacked following an investigation into allegations of personal misconduct, writes Olga Wojtas.

Ian Marshall, dean of the engineering faculty, suspended since November, said he was taking legal advice on pursuing his case outside the university. He would not discuss details.

A Paisley spokesman said: "The university court, following a thorough investigation, received a report from its disciplinary committee into allegations of personal misconduct on the part of Professor Marshall. The court agreed to dismiss Professor Marshall from the university's employment. The court hopes that the university can now move on from the events."
